Her areas of special interest include individual health risk assessments, health behavior education, prevention and intervention, health and wellness programs, chronic disease management, hospice and caring for the caregiver.

She has a particular interest in education and has been involved in teaching activities with patients, staff in health care centers and the general public. She has been creative and innovative in working with mountain and rural communities addressing specific health care issues including but not limited to domestic violence, child abuse and neglect and sexual assault. She also has been instrumental in leading trainings about secondary resiliency, vicarious trauma and caring for the caregiver. She has presented locally, nationally and internationally for diverse audiences.
